Kargo Technologies  reported approximately 66.5% lower operating costs from a recent electric vehicle (EV) fleet deployment across Jakarta delivery routes, reflecting growing focus on measurable fleet performance and operating economics across Southeast Asia’s logistics sector.

Deployment and operating performance

The deployment, conducted earlier this year, measured operating performance across more than 10,351 km over 50 operating days, covering both urban and intercity delivery routes using integrated telemetry tracking through Kargo Nexus. According to the company, zero downtime was recorded during the deployment period.

Operating economics and telemetry visibility

Operating data from the deployment showed EV fleet operating costs reaching approximately IDR 2.82 million during the measurement period, compared to IDR 8.41 million for diesel-equivalent operations across comparable routes.

The deployment also provided operational visibility through integrated telemetry systems, including monitoring across energy consumption, route activity, charging cycles, and operating performance. Measured energy efficiency reached approximately 4.4 km/kWh in heavy traffic conditions and 6.4 km/kWh on open-road routes.

As logistics operators across Southeast Asia continue evaluating EV deployment, operating visibility, route-level economics, and infrastructure execution are becoming increasingly important considerations in broader fleet deployment decisions. Recent deployment initiatives across the sector suggest a growing focus on measurable operational performance as electrification moves beyond pilot-stage adoption.

The operating impact becomes more visible at a larger fleet scale. Based on the company’s deployment estimates, annual fuel savings could reach approximately IDR 478 million across 20 trucks and approximately IDR 1.19 billion across 50 trucks, excluding additional maintenance savings covered under the operating model.

Broader fleet electrification strategy

The deployment forms part of Kargo Technologies’ broader logistics modernization strategy and fleet electrification roadmap.

Speaking during the company’s EV logistics partnership launch in Jakarta in late 2025, Tiger Fang, Founder & CEO of Kargo Technologies, said EVs allow logistics operators to manage transportation systems with greater operational visibility and measurable performance tracking.

“Electric vehicles allow us to see logistics not merely as transportation, but as an integrated system that can be analyzed, measured, and continuously improved,” Tiger said.

Kargo Technologies previously announced plans to deploy more than 2,500 EVs by 2026 as part of its broader fleet electrification roadmap.

Broader industry implications

Recent deployment data from the company reflects growing focus within Southeast Asia’s logistics sector on measurable deployment execution, operating visibility, and route-level fleet economics as operators continue evaluating commercial EV adoption.

As logistics networks scale across the region, operational performance data and infrastructure readiness are becoming increasingly important considerations in commercial EV deployment across Southeast Asia’s logistics sector.
