ACV Capital, a growth equity investment firm backing high-growth businesses across Southeast Asia, has received the ESG Award of Distinction from the Singapore Venture & Private Capital Association (SVCA) for its investment in Waste4Change.
The recognition was supported by clear, quantifiable evidence of the company’s environmental and social impact.
In 2025, Waste4Change collected 38.62 million kg of materials, recovered 9.14 million kg, and avoided an estimated 16,922 tonnes of CO₂e through its waste management and resource recovery activities, based on calculations using the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) waste management emissions calculator.
Waste4Change’s network included 22,834 collection points and 387 partners across the waste value chain, including 313 informal-sector partners. Waste4Change’s community engagement initiatives also reached 6,429 individuals through research, community development and training, while its digital education campaigns reached more than 8 million accounts during the year.
“ACV Capital stood out amongst the nominations SVCA received for the ESG Award of Distinction by providing clear, quantifiable metrics illustrating what Waste4Change has delivered since ACV Capital’s investment,” said Sharon Lim, CEO of SVCA. “The haze situation is a reminder of how important sustainability efforts are and why more needs to be done to raise environmental, social and governance standards.”
The award was presented at the SVCA Annual Gala & Awards Dinner in Singapore on 30 September 2026. Winners were selected by an independent panel of judges from 32 entries across eight award categories, plus a special mention.
Scaling waste management infrastructure in Indonesia
ACV Capital first invested in Waste4Change in 2019, backing the company as it expanded its waste management and resource recovery capabilities across Indonesia. Since then, Waste4Change has expanded its waste management infrastructure and capabilities across material recovery, refuse-derived fuel and biomass solutions, and digital traceability, improving transparency across collection, sorting, processing and resource recovery.
Waste4Change has also strengthened its ESG management and impact measurement, introducing structured annual impact reporting and enhanced digital monitoring and operational controls. In 2025, 4.2 million kg of recovered materials were covered by Verra-aligned verified waste credit processes, supporting more transparent and auditable impact reporting.
“Waste4Change has built a business that addresses one of Indonesia’s most significant environmental challenges while creating measurable environmental and economic value. At ACV Capital, we saw early on the potential for this model to scale alongside the growing need for more efficient waste management in Indonesia,” said Helen Wong, Managing Partner at ACV Capital.
“We are delighted to receive this recognition from SVCA. As Waste4Change continues to scale, we believe its impact can extend well beyond waste management, demonstrating how private capital and strong businesses can contribute to a more resource-efficient and sustainable economy.”
Building a more traceable waste management system

The company manages around 120 tonnes of material per day across five in-house facilities and 12 partner facilities, serving more than 1,000 B2B collection clients and 34,200 household clients.
Its digital traceability and reporting systems enable clients to monitor waste volumes, recovery pathways and environmental outcomes, supporting corporate ESG objectives and Extended Producer Responsibility requirements.
Waste4Change has also delivered more than 540 projects and training initiatives, including more than 100 research studies, and deployed 76 waste management machines nationwide.
ACV Capital integrates ESG and impact considerations throughout its investment lifecycle, from screening and due diligence through portfolio monitoring and engagement. Portfolio-level impact indicators include avoided emissions, waste diverted from landfill, employment and inclusion outcomes.
